LUHS Animal research centre

The BRC team helps researchers realize their scientific ideas. All ideas need real conditions. The center has seven simultaneously working operating places, a laboratory, and animal storage facilities. They provide conditions for working with animals of various sizes, from the smallest mice weighing only 30 g to pigs, sheep and goats weighing 50 kg.
The team of the Biological Research Center consists of 5 qualified veterinarians, all of whom have a permit to work with laboratory animals.
The following sample tests are available for BRC:
Blood Gas Analysis EPOC Reader
Blood morphological examination Mythic 18 VET
Analysis of blood serum biochemical parameters Spotchem7
Lung part and BAL cultures, counting of microorganisms
Histological tissue tests (LSMU VA Pathology Center)
PCR and ELISA analysis (in cooperation with other LSMU departments)
BRC also plans, helps organize and conducts training and courses, the operating theaters are designed in such a way that eight operating theaters can operate at the same time:
ATLS - Advance Trauma Life Support Course
mATLS - Mobile courses, all operating consoles have internet access, a video transmission system can be installed and broadcasting to the whole world.
BATLS - Advanced med., courses in providing aid to the wounded in a military environment (Battlefield advance trauma life support)
Training of the latest methods of laparoscopy - for foreign and Lithuanian surgeons
